You’ll find Crepeville a block off the University of California, Davis campus, at the corner of 3rd and C in downtown Davis. Crepeville is a little pricier than most lunch ‘fast food’, they only take cash, and they actually aren’t really fast because everything is made to order. But, they have good food and a ton of vegetarian options.
George and I have been to Crepeville multiple times over the years. Their vegetarian crepe options are good. We recommend the California (avocado, spinach, onions, sundried tomato pesto, provolone chees and a side of sour cream), the Salsa (cheddar, onions, tomato, avocado, black olives topped with salsa and a side of sour cream), the Mediterranean (grilled eggplant, pest, tomato, onions, red roasted peppers and cheddar cheese), and the Tofu (smoked tofu, onions, baby corn, tomato, bell peppers and spinach sautéed in peanut sauce). Vegetarian crepes go for about $7 each.
They also always have a vegetarian soup du jour, a vegetarian sandwich (cream cheese, avocado, tomato, cucumber, lettuce and sprouts), and a tofu burger (smoked tofu with sautéed red onions and mushrooms, avocao, jack cheese and may on a sesame bun).
On this occasion, George and I each ordered their grilled eggplant sandwich. It costs $5.75.
The sandwich was excellent. But seriously, how can you go wrong with a grilled cheese sandwich with added grilled vegetables on it? The sandwich has grilled eggplant, of course, with roasted peppers, tomato, pesto and provolone cheese served on multi-grain wheat bread. By the time you order a drink (we had sodas), you will spend about $15 for two people.
All the sandwiches and crepes are served with house pan-fried potatoes.
There are also dessert crepes, but George and I have never had one of those.
The vegan will have a little trouble here if you don’t just want a salad. However, they do serve smoked tofu as a side for $2.50.
Crepeville also has two locations in Sacramento (1730 L Street and 2700 24th Street), which we have never visited.
